To apply for driving lessons students must be eighteen years or over; must have been residing in Malta for not less than 6 months; must have a Maltese I.D. +18 (Identity Card); This will enable them to be fully insured when applying for a provisional driving licence (Learners' Permit ) for a year. Students must start lessons only after obtaining the Learners' Permit issued by the ADT (Malta Transport Authority).
At Royal Motoring School we provide free medical certification for your driving application, and you will also have your photo taken free of charge as well as receive free photocopies of necessary documents. For this reason, every Saturday a doctor is available at our offices between 13:00 and 14:00 and he will carry out the medical test required to apply for the provisional driving licence.
Every Saturday, from 12.30pm till 1pm, a Royal Motoring School car will be waiting in front of Hotel Phoenicia, Floriana, to pick up students and bring them to the office in Attard to apply for the Learners' Permit issued by Transport Malta. Just come to Floriana, no need to advise us beforehand! If you cannot come to register on Saturdays, call 7777-7777 and we will accommodate your schedule. Click here to read "Before you get started".
Students who cannot come to the office on a Saturday morning may contact an instructor from the Instructor's Page, or call on 7777-7777, and the student will be provided with the application, which he will fill in himself just like students from ALL the other motoring schools do.
If you are presently taking driving lessons with another motoring school and would like to change to our school, you will not be subjected to any changeover fees.
Students also receive a free CD containing driving theory lessons, plus recaps, and will also be invited to attend 3 lectures at Royal Motoring School offices in Attard. This ensures that students receive all the assistance needed to pass the theory and driving examination.
A driving licence application costs €40 and covers TM (Transport Malta) processing fees, driving insurance cover and provisional driving licence for a year issued by the Government of Malta. Government Theory Test Centre fee is €30.25, freephone 8007 2393, tel: 2122 7190.
