Are you ready for your practical test?

Before applying for your practical driving test, you and your instructor must agree that you are fully prepared.

✓We strongly recommend a mock driving test with your instructor to check your driving skills and readiness for the official examination. Once you and your instructor agree you are ready, follow these steps.

Pay the Transport Malta test fee

Pay the official practical test fee directly to Transport Malta.

Print the proof of payment and give it to your instructor. Test applications without proof of the €23.25 / €40 payment attached are not accepted. Keep your bank transfer confirmation.

Prepare your theory test certificate

Have your theory test pass certificate ready: it is required for the practical test application.

Meet your driving instructor

Arrange a meeting with your instructor and bring:

✓Your theory test pass certificate
✓Proof of your bank transfer to Transport Malta
✓The remaining practical test fees, payable to your instructor and Royal Motoring School

Complete your application

Your instructor helps you complete the official practical driving test application form. Make sure all your personal details are correct before it is submitted.

Application submission

Your instructor forwards your completed application and the required documents to Royal Motoring School for processing.

Receive your batch number

Once your instructor submits the application to the school, you receive your batch number. Keep it safe: it is the reference for your practical test application and serves as your receipt.

A batch number confirms your application has been submitted to Transport Malta. From here it is in Transport Malta's hands.

Check your practical test date

With your batch number and ID card number, contact Transport Malta directly to ask about your practical test date.

Your test date depends on Transport Malta's scheduling and availability.

•A mock test is strongly recommended before applying.
•Prepare all required documents and payments before completing the application.
•Receiving a batch number does not mean your test date is confirmed.
•Your practical test date is communicated once Transport Malta officially allocates it.
